Participants of this laboratory will have the opportunity to become familiar with the I-Loc® IM Fixator for small breed dogs and cats, and standard sized breeds. Principles of interlocking nailing in a variety of long bone fracture configurations will be described, as well as the evolution of interlocking nail designs with an emphasis on the concept of angle-stable centromedullary fixation. Detailed surgical techniques for open and closed fracture fixation using the I-Loc system will be demonstrated, followed by a dry-laboratory with extensive hands-on fracture reduction and fixation on either small or larger sized bone models, depending on the participant’s choice. A report of clinical results and expectations will conclude the laboratory.
