“Willow was examined at Cornell after being rescued and taken into the care of Where Pigs Fly Rescue & Sanctuary. She had chronic, multi limb lameness that required an intensive pain control regime to facilitate basic day-to-day movement, such as standing for meals. Although hind-limb surgery to treat a luxating patella improved her gait, Willow had difficulty rising and ambulating due to crippling left elbow arthritis. A Total Elbow Replacement (TER) was elected to treat discomfort and preserve joint function to the greatest extent possible. Since her surgery, Willow has physiotherapy exercise and an intensive medication program. She has gradually been weaned from her pain medication and is now able to enjoy outside time, savor her favorite snacks, and move around the pasture at her new home, Arthur’s Acres Animal Sanctuary!”
